“A Face of Anxiety"

“The presence of unpredictability, uncertainty and uncontrollability all provoke anxiety pretty automatically,” ~ Sally Winston

‘A Face of Anxiety” is a self portrait project that I created to showcase feelings of anxiety, that at one point in my life, were extremely difficult for me to describe and discuss with those around me. This project not only represents the present moment in which I created it, but also the next 2 years following as I would be further propelled in to a chaotic, anxiety driven phase of my life.

The unsettling and disturbing nature of these photos were intentional. My goal was to make my audience feel the fear, discomfort, uncontrollability, unpredictability and confusion that I experienced. Putting a face to my feelings of anxiety was not only a form of documenting this moment of my life, but also confronting my feelings head on and healing from my experiences.
