More than art —
This is a visual language. An extension of oral tradition, each work carries story & memory beyond the present, speaking to generations yet to come.
“ Rooted in memory. Shaped by hand. Guided by spirit.”
Current Practice4XA is grounded in a present practice shaped by divine design.
Exploring timeless forms, generational storytelling, and ancestral symbolism, this work honors the beauty, responsibility, and healing found in the relationship between humans and the living earth. Braid patterns, hairstyles, and cultural motifs reflect nature’s patterns and carry stories across generations. Through this work, we are reminded: we are not separate from nature — we are formed by it, reflected through it, and called to care for it.

The intention of this collection is to reconnect us with nature. To remind us of the interconnectedness of God’s divine designs. Remembering that the same hands that very intentionally crafted every detail of this world, this universe, also, just as intentionally crafted us. This collection is comprised of three phases. Phase i: Hair as Story, Memory, Connection. Phase ii: Color as Story, Memory, Connection. Phase iii: Pigment: A call to Remember, Honor, Protect.
Micah Althea
Artist/ Visual Storyteller
Micah Althea is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is rooted in magical realism and Black etherealism. Through mixed media painting and material exploration, she creates visual worlds that blur the boundaries between memory, dream, and reality. Grounded in ancestral memory, healing, and cultural storytelling, her work acts as a site of enchantment—inviting viewers into deeper reflection on identity, nature, and the unseen forces that shape our lives.
Her practice spans painting, textiles, natural pigments, and layered materials, each chosen to expand the possibilities of storytelling and symbolism. Through her work, Micah explores the power of curiosity, imagination, and collective memory—using art as a bridge between past, present, and future.
